Analysis of the High Resolution Rotational Spectrum of 2-Chloroethanol

Abstract: 2-Chloroethanol (HOCH 2 CH 2 Cl) is the smallest terrestrially stable chlorohydrin and is predicted to exist in the interstellar medium, forming from HCl with either oxirane or ethylene glycol, each of which are known interstellar constituents. Rotational a and ro-vibrational b, c spectra of 2-chloroethanol have been previously reported from 9-40 GHz and 100-500 cm −1 , respectively.
