Analysis of the impact of a novel cool roof on cooling performance for a low-rise prefabricated building in China

Abstract: The recently proposed scalable-manufactured randomized glass-polymer hybrid metamaterial (i.e. metamaterial film) exhibits good energy-saving potential for building applications. The most convenient way to employ this metamaterial film-based radiative cooling is to integrate it with buildings as cool roofs. However, metamaterial film-based radiative cooling is more suitable for buildings with higher roof area to floor area ratios, as this accounts for its relative lower cooling power of 110 W/m2 on a daily ave… Show more

“…In managing architectural design, the use of lean management tools can be seen as the driving force to enhance customer value, improve operations, and remove activities that do not add value. By means of investigation and interview, the interview content is analyzed, the problems are divided into six categories, the severity of the problems is coded, and the improvement suggestions are put forward for the design team based on the two theories [6].…”

“…The approximate solution is the product of the node function value and the basis function. The numerical solution can reach second-order or even higher accuracy [22,23]. At different grid nodes, the specific heat and thermal conductivity of the object will change due to different temperatures and materials.…”

“…8 Especially for the building applications, the radiative cooling shows great energy-saving potential 9 in which a maximum reduction in annual cooling electricity consumption of 43.0% and 24.2% can be achieved for its applications in prefabricated building and single-floor office. 10,11 The heat input from the roofs accounts for about 11% 12 of total heat gains of the buildings. Thus, the cooling load of the buildings as well as the energy consumption of the air-conditioning systems can be effectively reduced by decreasing the heat gains from the roofs.…”
