Analysis of the radiation characteristics of large-aperture exciplex laser systems utilizing a three-dimensional transfer equation

Abstract: An image converter was used as a fast streak camera to study the glow-to-arc transition in a uniform field hydrogen discharge gap (160-460 Torr pressure). The maximum discharge current was about 850 A. For the first 20-30 shots or so, with stainless steel electrodes, the constriction of the glow always started at the cathode irrespective of pressure and overvoltage. When the electrodes became conditioned, i.e. after about 100 shots, the constriction was initiated at the anode for overvoltages, up to a critical… Show more

“…Since a CVL can operate with one mirror or with no mirrors (amplified spontaneous emission regime at R 1 , R 2 → 0), then in the highly asymmetric case (R 1 ≈ 1, 0.5 > ∼ R 2 > ∼ 0), according to [12], one should use the relation…”

“…As shown in [12], relation (4) can also be employed in the symmetric case (R 1 = R 2 = R) at any 0 < ∼ R < ∼ 1. In [12], the calculations of the specific radiation power output were also compared for 0D and 1D approximations.…”
