Analysis of the Technical Efficiency of Maize Farmers and its Influencing Factors in Ombella Mpoko, Central African Republic

Abstract: This work analyzes the technical efficiency of maize farmers and its influencing factors in Ombella Mpoko, Central African Republic, using the data from primary source of the farmers in the region of Boali and Damara. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire, on farmers' output of maize, inputs used in the production process (land, capital, labor, fertilizer and cuttings) on each plot, and the socio-economic and plot-specific characteristics. “…The study also identifies that other influencing factor like education of the household, farm land holding, training received by the farmers in terms of maize production have all negative coefficients, implying that all those factors have a positive impact on maize efficiency. A similar finding was concluded in the study by Payang et al [10].…”

“…The production scale can also effectively improve output efficiency [20], which is more remarkable in characteristic industries such as dairy cows and sheep [21]. The breeding mode in the park has greater production efficiency than in the family [22].…”

“…In Cameroon, as in most countries in sub-Saharan Africa, the question of the performance of maize farms is an important one in research. Several authors [12-15] [6] [5] [16] have analysed maize production systems to determine their technical and economic efficiency through econometric methods (parametric and non-parametric).…”
