Analysis of vibration propagation in the human body

Abstract: The human vibration is a multidisciplinary subject involving many disciplines. A special area in the field of vibration research is the transport system. The paper presents the results of preliminary tests, the aim of which was to analyze the propagation of vibrations forced by the movement of the vehicle floor on persons sitting in a car. During research vibration were registered in measurement nodes, in which the composition always included the signal of oscillation of the enforcing plate and specific locati… Show more

“…Vibrations in a means of transport not only have a negative impact on drivers and passengers [ 23 ], but they are also a source of evolutionary degradation of roads, bridges, and other elements of transport infrastructure [ 24 ]. Vibrations transmitted to humans through the hands (local vibrations) or feet and torso (general vibrations) to which a person is exposed for a long time adversely affect human health, especially when the vibration frequencies coincide with the natural vibration frequencies of the body organs [ 25 , 26 ]. As the main factors determining the pathological effects of exposure to vibrations, the frequency of vibrations, exposure time, and body part of vibration penetration should be mentioned [ 27 ].…”

“…Vibrations, very often of a non-linear nature, are generated during the operation of machines and devices and transferred via hands or other parts of the body; these include the feet and the lumbar region, when in a sitting position. Long-term exposure to vibrations may adversely affect human health [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ]. The negative effects (pathologies) of long-term exposure to mechanical vibrations may be permanent or even irreversible.…”

“…The negative effects (pathologies) of long-term exposure to mechanical vibrations may be permanent or even irreversible. To a large extent, this risk depends on the frequency of vibrations, the exposure time, and the contact surface in the human–device system [ 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 ]. Conditions related to the negative influence of acceleration are generally called kinetosis [ 7 ].…”

“…The main objective of this study is to reduce the vibration of the ignition frequency component of the engine during idling. This is because vibration is the main feature that is used to evaluate the comfort of vehicles during idling [ 9 ], and since unpleasant vibrations can be experienced for long periods along the feet and lumbar spine when vehicle users are in a sitting position, reducing the vibration during idling is very important to minimize this [ 10 , 11 , 12 ].…”
