Analysis of Wind-Sand-Load-Induced Dynamic Response of Transmission Tower-Line Systems

Abstract: Sandstorms are a common natural phenomenon that has the potential to cause severe disruptions to civil infrastructure. However, the effect of sandstorms on transmission tower structures has not received much attention. This paper proposes the simulation of the wind-sand loads for the analysis of transmission tower structures under sandstorm excitation by superposing the wind loads and sand particle loads. The wind load is generated based on Kaimal fluctuating wind power spectrum and the harmonic superposition … Show more

“…Yin et al [27] numerically studied the dynamic response of transmission lines under the action of high-speed trains and verified it by field tests. Zhang et al [28] and Liu [29] analyzed the transient force and typical dynamic response of an overhead transmission tower-line structure under the action of high-speed train-induced wind. The results show that when the train passes through the overhead transmission tower-line structure, the ultimate force of the transmission line has a significant quadratic function relationship with the train speed.…”

“…Most studies on power grids [3][4][5][6] have focused on transmission towers and transmission systems [7], while research related to TPs is limited. The distributions of TPs are usually linear with low safety redundancy [8].…”
