Analysis of Yankee--Rowe Burnup Data.

Abstract: Bumup data from the Yankee Core Evaluation Program have been (1) converted t o isotopic concentrations i n nuclei per barn-centimeter, (2) analyzed f o r cross section information by l e a s t squares f i t t i n g techniques, and (3) compared with the predictions of the RIBOT and ZODIAC G burnup codes, The uranium-plutonium burnup equations used f o r the l e a s t squares analysis of the data are developed and discussed, Data from additional Yankee samples (measured primarily f o r 237 236pu, Z38pU 241h info… Show more

Note that the preceding discussion of relatively large discrepancies in some of the cross sections is not sensitive to the assumed values of the fixed ratios.…”

“…Of course, it must be remembered that the curved shape of the cross-section ratio is the price that has been paid to obtain closed form solutions involving only a few elementary functions. (11,12,13) In addition to the comparison of calculated and measured cross section ratios shown above, Matsuura and Prezbindowski compared calculated and measured isotopic data for the 12-rod ring position. These results are given in Reference 14, pp 30-37. and inserts comprising the FERTF fuel assemblies, (4,9) irradiated assemblies and rods from the basic core, and rods from special irradiation tests in the periphery of the core have been gamma scanned.…”
