Analysis Software Engineering Team's Soft Skills Learning using Online Learning Platform with Project-Oriented Problem-Based Learning (POPBL)

Abstract: In a decade, the 4.0 industry requires improving their employees, especially for freshly graduated employees. Both hard skills and soft skills must be improved. The Computers and Informatics Engineering Department at Bandung State Polytechnic has a software project subject in their curriculum that adapted the Project-Oriented Problem Based Learning (POPBL) method to improve them. It can give the skills experience that the industry needed, especially soft skills for students who act as the software engineering … Show more

“…Additionally, they introduced an extra role in the development team (liaison) responsible for promoting communication between teams and facilitating the integration of parts of the developed software. In Setiarini and Wulan [2021] study, it was necessary to prepare monitoring and evaluation sheets with specific criteria for each soft skill. Due to the complexity and frequency of weekly assessments, teachers reported needing more time to assess students and suggest personalized activities.…”

“…Among the studies that have been done include PoPBL as innovative learning strategies that benefit both learners and educators (Rajkumar et al, 2021) and the development of a teaching and facilitating framework for TVE based on PoPBL and Work-based learning (WBL) combined with 21st-century teaching elements (Rus et al, 2020). Most of the results from this past research indicate positive impacts from the integration of PoPBL in teaching and learning to the learners that show increment of soft skills such as responsibility and hard work (Setiarini & Wulan, 2021), develop a positive attitude among the slow learners (Rajkumar et al, 2021) and improve students' mastery of concepts and skills on science topics (Eliyawati et al, 2020).…”
