Analytical Electroacoustic Model of a Piezoelectric Composite Circular Plate

Abstract: This paper presents an analytical two-port, lumped-element model of a piezoelectric composite circular plate. In particular, the individual components of a piezoelectric unimorph transducer are modeled as lumped elements of an equivalent electrical circuit using conjugate power variables. The transverse static deflection field as a function of pressure and voltage loading is determined to synthesize the two-port dynamic model. Classical laminated plate theory is used to derive the equations of equilibrium for … Show more

“…In the electroelastic actuator its deformation corresponds to stressed state. For polarized piezoceramics PZT, the matrix state equations [12,14] with the electric and elastic variables have the form two equations, where the first equation represents the direct piezoeffect, the second describes the inverse piezoeffect…”

“…The structural parametric model of the electroelastic actuator was determined in contrast electrical equivalent circuit types Cady and Mason for calculation of piezoelectric transmitter and receiver [9][10][11]. In the paper [12] presents the classic analytical two-port lumpedelement model (LEM) types Cady and Mason of the piezoelectric composite circular plate with the output pressure. In the paper [13] considers the development of various lumped-element models as practical tools to design and manufacture the actuators with the output velocity.…”

“…By modelling the transducer with a numerical simulation environment such as Simulation Program with Integrated Circuits Emphasis (SPICE), data for the impedance matrix or particle velocity amongst other quantities can be obtained. For a more detailed analytical two-port, lumped-element modelling of a piezoelectric unimorph composite circular plate, see [21]. In this work, the matrix Z was computed with Spectre after modelling the actuator with the commercial MEMS software MEMS+ by Coventor Inc.…”

“…They carried out both the electro-acoustic model and the LEM of a piezoelectric-driven device (constituted of a thin piezo-ceramic disk glued on a metallic shim). These model approaches are validated against experimental measurements, [13][14][15]. Especially, Chiatto et al presented a comprehensive review covering the development and the evolution of LEM of predicting the frequency response of piezo-driven synthetic jet devices, commonly used to control fluid flows [16].…”
