Analytical model for thresholdless antiferroelectric liquid crystal displays

Abstract: A simple model for thresholdless antiferroelectric liquid crystal displays is presented, in which the typical thresholdless characteristic is caused by a negative interaction coefficient between the alignment layer and the liquid crystal. This negative interaction coefficient may be caused by the pairing of transverse dipole moments in adjacent layers.
