Abstract:AbstractΑ fatigue crack growth analysis to simulate the effect of plastic pre‐straining on fatigue crack growth by taking into account the cyclic material properties is presented. A critical energy concept is implemented, which correlates the critical energy for failure under low cycle fatigue with the critical energy at the crack tip from the SED criterion, using an appropriate scaling factor. The fatigue damage process area controlling the crack increment is defined by the cyclic plastic zone. Analytical fat… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
