“…Comparisons among recently reported low XP antennae are shown in Table 2. Compared with other reflector antennas reported in Bahadori and colleagues, 11,12,17,18 it can be seen that the proposed reflector antenna exhibits an ultralow XP of about −40 dB. Although a slotted or substrate‐integrated waveguide antenna 19,20 can achieve better XP performance, it is difficult to employ in multibeam antenna system.…”

“…However, the asymmetry of reflector structure itself leads to the deterioration of cross-polarization (XP) and the value is generally about −25 dB, 4,5 which does not meet the high requirement in some special system. To improve the XP performance, the common scheme is (1) increasing the focal length to weaken the effect of the asymmetry on the XP performance 6,7 ; (2) reshaping the surface of the reflector to change the amplitude and phase distribution of surface field, then to improve the XP performance 8,9 ; (3) redesigning the feed to let it operate at the multimode state to improve the XP performance [10][11][12] ; (4) using dualreflector to suppress the XP performance. 13 However, increasing the focal length will be limited by the satellite structure, and the improvement effect is extremely limited.…”

“…Multimode waveguide horns are generally used as matched feed for reducing cross‐polar radiation in offset reflectors. Higher order modes along with the dominant mode are generated with proper excitation coefficients in horns to tackle the cross‐polarization problem …”

“…This asymmetric field can be compensated by addition of higher order modes with similar field distribution in appropriate ratio along with the dominant mode in the reflector feed . Dual‐mode horn antenna feed for the offset reflector uses the concept of CFM to achieve low level of cross‐polarization . In traditional dual‐mode circular horn antenna feed, TE 21 mode is generated at a suitable ratio to the dominant TE 11 mode for CFM.…”
