Analytical Perspectives on Emerging Organic Contaminants in the Aquatic Ecosystem

Abstract: This chapter introduces readers to the background of emerging contaminants by defining emerging contaminants and telling their history and their corresponding effects. It describes the dynamic properties of emerging contaminants such as advection and dispersion, chemistry, and their reactivity behavior. Lastly, it tells the analytical methodologies on sample preparation such as solid phase extraction and solid-phase micro-extraction, detection and quantification of organic ECs, and it proposes future perspecti… Show more

“…Industrial wastewater and emerging organic contaminants(EOCs) in sewage mainly include aromatic HC's, dyes, pesticides, and harmful chemicals that are toxic to humans, plants, and animals. Complexity in the structure of EOCs in water, such as chlorination, extraction, degradation, biodegradation, and inorganic heterogeneous catalysis, is challenging nowadays [139]. There is a need to modify design-based MOFs such as MOF membranes not only to have the structural features of MOF powder material but it will also to overcome secondary pollutants [140].…”
