Analytical Schema

Abstract

In this sub-section and once recognized abandonment as a social fact, an analytical schema based on parameters (Sect. 3.1), factors (Sect. 3.2), reasons (Sect. 3.3), policies (Sect. 3.4) is proposed. The aim is to have a richer "toolbox" to critically revisit the issue as a complex problem. Parameters and IndicatorsThere are at least five operative parameters (and relative indicators) to detect "abandoned buildings": physical, facility, fiscal, economic, statutory parameters. Some of them (i.e. physical and facility indicators) are mere "signs" of possible states of abandonment-they reflect brute facts-while others try to identify abandonment more substantially as a social fact (i.e. fiscal, economic, statutory). 1 Obviously, these indicators can be used in combination. Let us consider them in detail.1.
