Analyzing interrelated enablers of industry 4.0 for implementation in present industrial scenario

Abstract: Purpose The paper aims to present a systematic literature review to analyze interrelated enablers of Industry 4.0 for implementation. Industry 4.0 is an integrated manufacturing strategy embedded with disruptive technologies. Adapting these technologies with the present industrial scenario is dependent on understanding the dynamics of various critical enablers in the existing literature. In this paper, an effort has been taken to validate and reinforce these enablers by experts in the field of Industry 4.0 for… Show more

“…However, most existing research has concentrated on a single/individual variable of Industry 4.0 implementation, rather than analyzing the Industry 4.0 concept as a whole, following a theoretical model of inquiry. For example, Shayganmehr et al (2021), Murugaiyan and Ramasamy (2021), Krishnan et al (2021), Adebanjo et al (2021), Yadav et al (2020, Devi et al (2020) and Jain and Ajmera (2020) studied one set of variables known as enabler/enabling factor in the manufacturing and supply chain context. These researchers employed qualitative and quantitative techniques such as ISM, Fuzzy-MICMAC, robust best-worst method (RBWM), Q-sort methodology, analytic hierarchy process and expert's linguistic assessment method.…”

“…Manufacturing experts seek knowledge about the process of implementing the I4.0 technologies at the manufacturing firm to mitigate disruptions from crises (Zheng et al, 2021). Thus, a digital manufacturing strategy for implementing I4.0 is developed to transform the way manufacturing function is configured and organized (Murugaiyan and Ramasamy, 2021). Digital manufacturing strategy or manufacturing strategy for I4.0 is expected to aid in deciding and implementing the most appropriate I4.0 technology for the specific manufacturing firm (Bibby and Dehe, 2018;Murugaiyan and Ramasamy, 2021;Parhi et al, 2021).…”

The role of manufacturing strategy in implementing I4.0 technologies will be to effectively align the manufacturing decisions with the selected smart technology to deliver desired outputs and achieve smart manufacturing performance measures (Parhi et al, 2021).…”
