Abstract: Howland type 22 BCat. 5 has a curved and decorated rim as in Howland type 22 A, from which it differs only by having a raised base instead of a concave bottom. Howland types 22 A and 22 B have a central tube and may have two opposite nozzles. The nozzle of cat. 5 is comparatively longer than usual in the type, and its wick-hole is proportionately smaller. In this pilot study, Late Hellenistic mold-made lamps from Ephesos are investigated by combining chrono-morphological and stylistic features with thin-section petrography and neutron activation analysis. Coeval wares of Ephesian production and clay samples collected around the site as well as published data from the Bonn database are considered local reference material. The results point to a network of local/regional workshops sharing facilities and/or a labor force dedicated to distinct tasks. The whole evidence is consistent with the very beginning of a nucleated workshop industry able to optimize the productivity of mold-made wares and fill the demand of an increased regional and supra-regional market. The typological and compositional variability of the latest phases could suggest a gradual transfer of potting activities towards areas providing better-suited clay sources.

A mixed Romano-Punic tomb discovered on private property to the west of Msallata contains many small stone chests containing cremated human remains. Some of these chests carry the name of the deceased written in the Latin or neo-Punic alphabet. Besides the stone chests, there are pottery jars containing animal remains. Figurative relief and religious symbols suggest the practice of rituals associated with the Tophet (sanctuary-necropolis) of Carthage. In addition to the stone chests and pottery urns there are many other objects that are typical of the grave goods usually buried with the Phoenician dead: oil lamps, tableware, coins, medals.

Lykia Bölgesi’nin kutsal alanı olan Letoon, günümüzde Muğla ili, Seydikemer ilçesi sınırları içerisinde yer almaktadır. 2022 kazı sezonunda tiyatro ve nekropol alanlarının yanı sıra Hristiyanlık inancıyla birlikte kutsal alan içerisinde inşa edilmiş olan kilisede kazı ve onarım çalışmaları gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu çalışmalar sırasında tüm ya da büyük oranda tümlenebilir sekiz adet kandil tespit edilmiştir. Kandiller üç ayrı tip altında incelenmiştir. Bu tipler Lykia’da sıkça karşılaştığımız Lykia Tipi, Kuzey Afrika Tipi ve Küçük Asya/Ephesus Tipi kandillerdir. Aynı kontekst içerisinde değerlendirilen ve beşinin omuz, diskus ve tabanında betimleme görülen bu kandillerin bir kısmı çark bir kısmı ise kalıp yapımıdır. Bu çalışmada sekiz adet pişmiş toprak kandilin tipolojik değerlendirmesi yapılmış ve bu kandiller döneminin benzerleri ile karşılaştırılmıştır. Çalışmada değerlendirilen bu kandillerin, kilisenin kullanım evresiyle paralel olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
