Ancylomarina longa sp. nov., isolated from southern Okinawa Trough sediment and emended description of the family Marinifilaceae

Abstract: A Gram-stain-negative, obligately anaerobic, non-motile, non-spore-forming, long-rod-shaped and non-flagellated bacterial strain, designated T3-2 S1-C T , was isolated from a sediment sample collected at the Okinawa Trough. Phylogenetic analyses of 16S rRNA gene sequences and the whole genome revealed that strain T3-2 S1-C T was a member of the family Marinifilaceae and exhibited less than 95.1 % sequence similarities to the closely related type strains of the family Marinifilaceae. Optimal growth occurred at … Show more

“…All procedures were in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki. The inoculum was anaerobically incubated at 37°C for 48 h. A colony designated VHProbi A17 was picked and identified as the species Lagilactobacillus salivarius using 16S rRNA gene sequencing, as described by Fu et al ( 1 ). The strain was sequenced with Illumina HiSeq 2500 and Pacific Biosciences (PacBio) RS II platforms.…”

“…Then, 1 mL of dilution was spread onto the MRS agar plate and incubated under aerobic conditions at 37°C to enrich bacteria. After 48 h, a white colony designated VHProbi O10 was picked up and identified as the species Lactiplantibacillus plantarum using 16S rRNA sequencing as described by Fu et al ( 1 ). A combined sequencing strategy of Illumina HiSeq 2500 and the PacBio RS II single molecular real-time (SMRT) platform was used to sequence the genome of this strain.…”
