Anesthesia and intraoperative support of homeostasis in fast‐track rehabilitation for elective colonic surgery

Abstract

Charité University Hospital for patients undergoing elective colonic resection, as well as underlying mechanisms and clinical pathways. In particular, it examines the anesthesiological aspects of this multimodal approach, such as revised guidelines for preoperative fasting, modified pre-and postoperative fluid management and effective analgetic therapy, including epidural analgesia, short-acting anesthetic agents and the avoidance of high doses of systemic opioids. Maintenance of normothermia and normovolemia is also discussed.
