“…Angiography demonstrated AVG and an occluded straight sinus. In 1969, Agee et al [25]reported a 37-year-old male with shunted hydrocephalus and an AVG that regressed spontaneously with associated occlusion of the straight sinus, similar to a case reported by Zingesser et al [46], with nonvisualization of the straight sinus at angiography.…”

“…However, obstruction alone might be a cause of hydrocephalus since ventricular dilatation has continued to develop despite thrombosis of the aneurysm and its venous system [24]. The effect of shunting on thrombosis, as in Case 1, is not known; however, in the literature, most lesional thromboses occurred without, or prior to, intracranial intervention [25]. …”

“…By the late 1940s and early 1950s, advances in cerebral angiography had facilitated several important descriptive papers that served to increase awareness of the condition of vein of Galen aneurysmal malformation, which is reflected in a significant number of individual case reports in the 1950s and 1960s. 1,6,8,21,35,36 Silverman and colleagues 31,32 communicated important observations about the pathophysiological features of the fistula in a vein of Galen aneurysmal malformation and its causative role in prompting high-output cardiac failure in neonates and infants. Before birth, the low-resistance placental circulation absorbs as much as 40% of cardiac output, so that the right ventricle supplies the placenta and lower body while the left ventricle supplies the head.…”
