Remaining freshwater systems are historically under threat mainly due to human activities such as agriculture and urbanization. The consequences of such activities are innumerous, and among them there is a decrease of suitable habitats for threatened fauna. In the Brazilian Cerrado, the odonatofauna of palm swamps and riparian forests are still poorly explored, a fact that difficult conservation efforts of the group. Thus, we performed an inventory in several urban and rural sites containing these phytophysiognomies in Uberlândia, Triângulo Mineiro region, western Minas Gerais state. In total, we found 101 Odonata species, seven families and 46 genera in the municipality, with 76 and 66 species, respectively, belonging to palm swamp and forest sites. From this diversity, eight species were first records in the state of Minas Gerais: Neuraeschna claviforcipata Martin, 1909, Phyllocycla cf. medusaBelle, 1988, Diastatops intensa Montgomery, 1940, Oligoclada pachystigma Karsch, 1890, O. xanthopleura Borror, 1931, Angelagrion nathaliaeLencioni, 2008, Telebasis sanguinalis Calvert, 1909 and Telebasis simulacrum (Calvert, 1909). We also sampled Erythrodiplax anaGuillermo-Ferreira & Vilela 2016, a species listed as endangered (EN) by the IUCN red list. Additionally, we include some taxonomic notes of Forcepsioneura machadorum females, a newly discovered species in the region. Our results contribute to the Odonata database in Brazil and highlights the importance inventories in poorly explored aquatic ecosystems.

Congruence between taxa is the agreement between groups, it is used to find indicator taxa, being a quick and effective way to assess biodiversity. The objective of this work was to evaluate the congruence between fish assemblages, Heteroptera, Odonata in streams of the Amazon-Cerrado transition area. The study took place in 24 streams in the transition between the Cerrado and Amazon biomes, Brazil. The analysis results showed weak congruence between Odonata and Heteroptera for the two data sets. Disagree Odonata and fish showed weak congruence but signicant with abundance data, and with incidence data, the congruence was not significant. A similar result was obtained when analyzing fish and Heteroptera, which were not congruent with any of the datasets used. These findings were repeated when analyzing the suborder Zygoptera separately, instead of Odonata. The variance partition test, with abundance data, showed that both environmental variables and space are responsible for structuring the Heteroptera community, different fish, Odonata and Zygoptera did not respond to any of the analyzed variables, with incidence data no group showed a relationship with the environmental and spatial variables analyzed. The pRDA, with abundance data, confirmed the relationship of the Heteroptera assemblage with environmental and spatial variables, however, the other assemblages did not present significant results. With the incidence data, it was not significant for all assemblages. The weak congruence between the different groups can due to the different responses to the same environmental gradient, which was confirmed by the variance partition test.

Beta diversity has been widely used in studies to understand the spatial distribution patterns of species and to assess the effects of anthropic impacts on aquatic environments. Dissimilarity indices, such as Sorensen and Jaccard, are widely used to calculate beta diversity, and show differences in their way of evaluating and valuing biodiversity components, which result in different patterns. Despite this variation, the efficiency and performance of beta diversity to measure environmental impacts in communities remains unexplored. In this study, we In this study, we evaluate changes in the composition of Odonata species adult in Amazonian streams using different beta diversity indices. The Odonata were sampling in 98 small streams in two regions of the eastern Amazon. We compared the beta diversity of preserved and altered streams in each region using the Sorensen and Jaccard indices. Our results show that all methods used are effective in detecting changes in Odonata species composition when comparing preserved and altered stream communities. However, the Sorensen index was more able to reflect these changes, possibly due to its lower sensitivity to rare species compared to the Jaccard index. Even with a subtle difference in detection power, we should consider it, especially when environmental changes are less pronounced, using methods with greater accuracy increases the probability of detecting the effects of human actions on natural communities.
