Angiotensin-(1-7) Central Mechanisms After ICV Infusion in Hypertensive Transgenic (mRen2)27 Rats

Abstract: Graphical AbstractHypothalamic mechanisms induced by ICV infusion of angiotensin-(1-7) in the transgenic (mRen2)27 hypertensive animals. Ang-(1-7) treatment modulated components of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS), attenuating increased levels of AT1 and ACE activity, and negatively modulated inflammatory profile, by increasing anti-inflammatory IL-10 and decreasing TNFα and iNOS in the hypothalamus. Further, altered oxidative stress/inflammation by ROS mediator, decreasing Uchl1 (ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal… Show more

“…Lower BP during pregnancy is achieved by maintaining a balance between increased levels of Ang II and decreased sensitivity to Ang II together with higher levels of Ang-(1-7). Ang-(1-7) has a vasodilatory (RAS modulation), antithrombotic and anti-inflammatory (decreasing TNF-α levels and increasing the antiinflammatory activity of IL-10) effect [49,50].…”

“…Cardiomyocyte diameters in hematoxylin and eosin-stained sections among all groups were measured throughout the nucleus-corresponding area. Only longitudinally cut cardiomyocytes with visible nuclei and cellular boundaries were considered for the analysis (Kangussu et al, 2021). Area % of collagen fibers, NF-κB, TNFα, immunoreactions were also estimated using (ImageJ) computer software for image analysis (Wayne Rasband, NIH, Bethesda, Maryland, USA).…”
