Angular distributions inJ/ψpp¯π0(

Abstract: The differential decay rates of the processes J/ψ → ppπ 0 and J/ψ → ppη close to the pp threshold are calculated with the help of the NN optical potential. The same calculations are made for the decays of ψ(2S). We use the potential which has been suggested to fit the cross sections of NN scattering together with NN and six pion production in e + e − annihilation close to the pp threshold. The pp invariant mass spectra is in agreement with the available experimental data. The anisotropy of the angular distribu… Show more

“…In this respect, the existing theoretical predictions for the polarization buildup with antiprotons are affected by the lack of knowledge of the proton-antiproton interactions and differ by more than a factor 2. 8,9 For this reason, a direct measurement of the polarizing cross sections in proton-antiproton interactions constitutes an inevitable step towards the design of a dedicated polarizer ring. To this purpose, the PAX Collaboration has submitted a proposal to the CERN-SPSC to measure the spin-dependence of the proton-antiproton interaction at the AD-ring.…”

“…The parameters of this model has been obtained by fitting simultaneously the nucleon-antinucleon scattering data, the cross sections of pp and nn production in e + e − annihilation, and the ratio of electromagnetic form factors of the proton in the timelike region. We have also constructed a simple optical potential model of the NN interaction in the 1 S 0 partial wave [22]. This partial wave should give the most important contribution to the final-state pp interaction in the decays J/ψ(ψ ) → ppω(ρ, γ) in the energy region close to the pp threshold.…”
