“…Mycobacterium bovis infection has been reported in wild boar in Spain (Naranjo, Gortazar, Vicente, & de la Fuente, ), France (Richomme, Boschiroli, Hars, Casablanca, & Ducrot, ), Italy (Serraino et al., ), United Kingdom (Foyle & Delahay, ), Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia (Machackova et al., ; Pavlik et al., ) and Morocco (El Mrini et al., ), and in feral swine in Australia (Corner, Barrett, Lepper, Lewis, & Pearson, ) and New Zealand (Wakelin & Churchman, ). They are believed to acquire infection either via scavenging the carcass of an animal that died from bTB or from inhalation or ingestion of the bacterium as they share pasture space with M. bovis‐ infected cattle (de Lisle, Mackintosh, & Bengis, ; Serraino et al., ).…”
