Anisotropic converted wave amplitude-preserving prestack time migration by the pseudo-offset method

Abstract: In this paper, we use the method of pseudo-offset migration (POM) to complete converted wave pre-stack time migration with amplitude-preservation in an anisotropic medium. The method maps the original traces into common conversion scatter point (CCSP) gathers directly by POM, which simplifi es the conventional processing procedure for converted waves. The POM gather fold and SNR are high, which is favorable for velocity analysis and especially suitable for seismic data with low SNR. We used equivalent anisotro… Show more

“…Tarantola (1984a) solves the inversion problem in the acoustic approximation of seismic reflection data based on the generalized least-squares criterion. Pseudooffset migration was introduced in the converted-wave prestack time-migration method to obtain amplitude-preserved images from anisotropic media (Zhang and Liu, 2008).…”

“…Ye et al (2008) proposed preserved amplitude migration for irregular surface areas. In the fi eld of preserved amplitude prestack time migration, Zhang and Liu (2008) proposed a method to perform preserved amplitude pre-stack time migration for anisotropic converted waves and Wang et al (2008) used the preserved amplitude pre-stack time migration of plane waves to do AVA analysis, both of which showed an improved amplitude fi delity.…”

“…Duzhirin (2003) proposed the method of decoupled elastic prestack depth migration. Zhang and Liu (2008) studied anisotropic converted wave prestack migration. Wang (2004) projected the data of the elastic vectorial wave-fi eld to the ray direction and then performed traditional scalar acoustic Kirchhoff migration, in which the computation of wave-field separation was avoided.…”
