Abstract:Chemically modified graphene is an attractive electrode material for electrocatalysis, energy devices, and sensors, whereas pristine graphene is electrochemically passive. The remarkable anisotropic electrochemical nature of graphene is uncovered by π–π interaction, making pristine graphene more active than bare Au. The π–π stacking during redox reaction “dopes” the graphene, disrupting the passivating hydration layer, making it a facile electrochemical electrode. The structure during π–π stacking‐mediated red… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
