Anodic Voltammetry of Thioacetamide and its Amperometric Determination in Aqueous Media

Abstract: TAA is a harmful, presumptive pollutant in tap waters and waste waters. Several alternatives have been tested as new possibilities for the anodic determination of TAA in aqueous solutions, simulated waste waters and tap water. The electrochemical behaviour of thioacetamide (TAA) was investigated at a boron-doped diamond (BDD) electrode both in unbuffered 0.1 M Na 2 SO 4 and buffered solutions as supporting electrolytes. The anodic oxidation of TAA showed well-defined limiting currents or current peaks and a go… Show more

“…THF had the highest ΔE 1/2 due to lower dielectric constant value (ε), and this solvent had smaller dielectric constant value (ε DMSO =46.70, ε DMF =36.70, ε DCM =8,93 and ε THF =7.58) between all aprotic dipolar solvents under study herein. Our data on the potentials for oxidation and reduction of TBrPP-Sn (IV) (Table2) are consistent with previous reports published in the literature on metalloporphyrin-like compounds 70,71.…”

“…2 Recent research studies and technical applications draw the interest to the utility of TAA preparation of photocatalytic nanocomposites, mesoporous nanomaterials, and metal chalcogenide thin films. 3 TAA was first used to control the decay of oranges and then as a fungicide. 4 Now, it is being used in leather, textile, and paper industries as an accelerator in the vulcanization of buna rubber and as a stabilizer for motor fuels.…”

“…4 Now, it is being used in leather, textile, and paper industries as an accelerator in the vulcanization of buna rubber and as a stabilizer for motor fuels. 3 It has been evaluated that prolonged administration of TAA cause hyperplastic liver nodules, liver cell adenomas, and hepatocarcinomas. 5 It is well understood that in the liver TAA is S -oxidized at the thioamide group to TAA sulfoxide and subsequently to di- S -oxide.…”

“…Our data on the potentials for oxidation and reduction of TBrPP-Sn (IV) (Table 2) are consistent with previous reports published in the literature on metalloporphyrinlike compounds. 70,71 We studied the scanning speed effect on the current response of CVs for each solvent to determine if the redox process was controlled by diffusion or by adsorption. Figure 6a shows Cvs for (2) at different scanning speeds in DMF.…”
