Antecedents and consequences of knowledge management systems usage in Jordanian banking sector

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to provide an empirical understanding for the antecedents and consequences of knowledge management system (KMS) usage among decision makers in Jordanian banks. The model of this paper was developed through extending the diffusion of innovation (DOI) along with information system (IS) success model, on which eight hypotheses are developed. In total, 341 usable questionnaires were used for further analysis. Structural equation modeling was used to analyze and test the developed hypot… Show more

“…Secondly, the existence of latent constructs with multiple indicators (perceived compatibility, relative advantage, system complexity and knowledge or information quality). Thirdly, many researchers in the field of information systems adoption and usage have used the SEM approach in their studies (Abdelrahman, 2013; Al-Busaidi, 2005; Chuang et al , 2012; Okour et al , 2019). Given assumptions have formulated the rationality of applying SEM as a primary statistical technique for this study.…”

“…KMS refers to any IT-based systems developed to support and enhance the organisational processes of knowledge creation, storage/retrieval, transfer and application (Alavi and Leidner, 2001). Several strategic benefits can be achieved by using the implemented KMS; particularly, boosting decision makers’ capabilities in producing more effective decisions (Okour et al , 2019). However, KMS will have no value if not brought to an actual level of system usage (Al-Busaidi, 2005; Kulkarni et al , 2006).…”

“…Apart from its benefits (Wei et al , 2012; Okour et al , 2019; Parekh, 2009), knowledge sharing has an additional component, that is, the creation of new knowledge and innovative ideas (Cabrera and Cabrera, 2005). In practice, knowledge sharing is not a target in itself, rather it is considered as a means to an end.…”

“…Knowledge management has emerged as one the most important areas in management practices. Most decisions in banking sector are knowledge based, through knowledge management, employees can access, store and share various knowledge, as well as work to renew knowledge and exchange ideas and experiences at various levels of administration [19][20][21]. KM simplifies the delivery of effective information that are used in institution's processes from planning, consulting and decision making [22][23][24].…”
