Anterior intrapelvic approach and suprapectineal quadrilateral surface plate for acetabular fractures with anterior involvement: a retrospective study of 34 patients

Abstract: Background The purpose of the study is to evaluate the use of the suprapectineal quadrilateral surface (QLS) plates associated with the anterior intrapelvic approach (AIP) to the acetabulum in the surgical treatment of acetabular fractures with anterior involvement. Methods We did a retrospective study of patients surgically treated with QLS plates and AIP for acetabular fractures with the involvement of the anterior column, between February 2018 a… Show more

“…Keel et al reported a series of 20 patients, of whom 8 patients (40%) had an anatomical reduction [ 9 ]. Based on presented studies, the Pararectus approach achieved at least similar reduction quality compared to other approaches, and in those studies anatomic or satisfactory reduction were reported in the range of 75.1 to 87.4% [ 7 , 22 , 23 ]. The quality of reduction was related to the complexity of the fracture [ 17 ].…”

“…It is developed based on specific tools with massive database; a suite of tools which utilizes a comprehensive database of CT-scans, plus associated 3D bone models, allowing the user to assess population differences in bone morphology, bone density, and implant fit for the purposes of research and development 22 . Ciolli et al 23 also reported that this QLS plate was useful along with favorable outcomes in the treatment of different fracture types involving a QLS such as anterior column, anterior column-posterior hemitransverse, T-type, and both columns. We could also achieve satisfactory reduction and surgical outcomes along with shorter operation time and fewer complications in almost all cases using our technique.…”

“…In the CHP group, internal fixation was performed before the hip replacement. When the anterior column was involved, a suprapectineal quadrilateral buttress plate was used through a modified Stoppa approach; otherwise, a Kocher-Langenbeck approach was performed with a posterior column or wall osteosynthesis [ 81 , 82 ].…”
