Anti-Cancer Screening of Some Transition Metal Ion Complexes with Coumarin Derivatives

Abstract: In this study, an equal amount of -4-methyl-5,7-(bis pchlorophenyl azo) coumarin (ligand 6-hydroxy) and copper, cobalt, and nickel (metals) were reacted to synthesize the respective metal ion complexes. The synthesized metal complexes were characterized using various approaches such as CHN elemental analysis, 1 H-NMR, mass spectral data, and FTIR. The outcome of the spectroscopic analysis showed the coordination of the ligand to the metal ion that is in the complexes through hydroxyl group; the data also showe… Show more

“…As a consequence, a large number of coumarin -based metal complexes have been synthesized in order to obtain more potent molecules [14,15]. Metal complexes of Schiff bases are specifically of interest in bioinorganic chemistry because many of these complexes provide biological models for use in understanding the structure of biomolecules and biological processes [16,17,18].…”

“…In fact, incorporation of metals such as cobalt, copper, zinc, silver, platinum, palladium, or iridium, into ligand molecules with biological activity has been implemented in the development of novel coumarin-based complexes with better pharmacological activity. As a consequence, a large number of coumarin-based metal complexes have been synthesized in order to obtain more potent molecules ( Gasser Metzler-Nolte N., 2012 ; Noffke et al, 2012 ; Ibrahim et al, 2019 ; Parveen et al, 2019 ; Boros et al, 2020 ).…”
