“…Th e results of the current study confi rm the previous fi ndings regarding the protective eff ects of NS on renal oxidative damage. Many studies have shown that NS have anti-infl ammatory eff ect in various models (Boskabady et al 2008;Boskabady et al 2011a;Boskabady et al 2011b;Boskabady et al 2011c;Gholamnezhad et al 2015). It has been demonstrated that NS treatment increases CAT, GSH-Px, and SOD activities in the renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (Mousavi 2015).…”

“…Thymoquinone (C 10 H 10 O 2 ; 2-isopropyl-5-methyl-1,4-benzoquinone; molecular weight 164.2) composes 27.8-57% of the volatile fatty acids of black cumin 3,4. In previous studies, many effects of TQ including antioxidant,5 anti-inflammatory,6 analgesic,7 anti-asthmatic,8 and antimicrobial9 effects were found, and a cell reproduction inhibitory effect in many types of cancer was also detected 10,11. It has very few documented side effects 12.…”

“…To date (March 2016) in the databases such as PubMed/Medline, Science Direct, Web of Science, Scopus, and google, a total of 1290 published evidences were found on the following topics: morphology of the plant, isolated compounds and their derivatives, and pharmacological activities. One general revision of this plant was done by Ahmad et al [2], following to a dermatological revision by Aljabre et al [3], an immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory revision by Majdalawieh and Fayyad [4], an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, an immunomodulatory [5], male fertility [6], metabolic parameters in diabetes mellitus [7], and thymoquinone and its therapeutic potentials by Darakhshan et al [8]. This review summarizes the above mentioned studies.…”
