Anti-Inflammatory Effects of Cicadidae Periostracum Extract and Oleic Acid through Inhibiting Inflammatory Chemokines Using PCR Arrays in LPS-Induced Lung inflammation In Vitro

Abstract: In this study, we aimed to evaluate the anti-inflammatory effects and mechanisms of CP and OA treatments in LPS-stimulated lung epithelial cells on overall chemokines and their receptors using PCR arrays. In addition, we aimed to confirm those effects and mechanisms in LPS-stimulated lung macrophages on some chemokines and cytokines. In our study, CP treatments significantly inhibited the inflammatory mediators CCL2, CCL3, CCL4, CCL5, CCL6, CCL9, CCL11, CCL17, CCL20, CXCL1, CXCL2, CXCL3, CXCL5, CXCL7, CXCL10, … Show more

“…Hou et al reported that OA supplementation increases the AMP/ATP ratio and AMPK activation, as well as inhibiting the NF-κB pathway in M1 [ 117 ]. Moreover, Hong et al proved that OA treatments have anti-inflammatory effects through inhibiting proinflammatory mediators, including PI3K, Akt, MAPKs, NF-κB, NOS2, and COX2 in M1 [ 118 ]. Regarding T cells, Gorjão et al demonstrated that OA stimulates T lymphocytes, inducing their proliferation, while other saturated or n -3 fatty acids decrease it [ 160 ].…”

“…In neutrophils, OA can reduce their migration ability (62). In macrophages, it can inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory factors and promote the secretion of anti-inflammatory factors (63)(64)(65). OA can also affect the physiological processes of T cells and regulate the function of Treg cells (66)(67)(68).…”

“…These authors suggested that OA might be used for the treatment of sepsis-caused acute liver injury. In the same cells, Hong and Lee found that OA treatments exert anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting proinflammatory mediators, including PI3K, Akt, MAPKs, NFκB, NOS2, and COX2 [ 55 ]. These findings suggest that OA is a potential chemokine-based therapeutic substance for the treatment of the lungs and airway inflammation in allergic disorders.…”
