“…In another study, a tirucallane triterpenoid isolated from the stem bark namely 3,23-dioxotirucalla-7,24-dien-21-oic acid, exhibited remarkable anti-inflammatory activity in a PGE 2 competitive inhibition immunoassay with an IC 50 value of 3.63 μM which was comparable to the positive control, cortisone (IC 50 = 2.59 μM). Methyl angolensate further demonstrated remarkable competitive inhibition of PGE 2 with an IC 50 of 10.23 μM confirming its in-vivo anti-inflammatory effect [30]. C. procera is a medium-large sized bushy shrub which grows on coarse, sandy or alkaline soils of West and East Africa also found in the Indian Ocean islands and the north of South Africa.…”

“…The 1H and 13 C NMR signal patterns of C-20 to C-27 were very close to those of tirucallane triterpenes with the same side chain. 3234 Although the configuration at C-20 was not clear, the structure of 7 was concluded to be cycloarta-1,24-diene-3,23-dion-21-oic acid.…”
