Abstract

Anti-liver and antiendomysial autoantibodies in primary antiphospholipid (Hughes') syndrome Sir,Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is a chronic hepatitis of unknown etiology and it is also characterized by the presence of liver-associated autoantibodies and hypergammaglobulinemia. 1 AIH is one of the major autoimmune liver diseases (ALDs), and 20-40% of cases are associated with other autoimmune disorders. 1 The most common connective tissue disorders related to AIH is systemic lupus erythematosus. 1 However, the co-occurrence of antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) with AIH is quite rare, and only a few cases of ALD and antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) have been described.The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence and clinical significance of circulating anti-liver and antiendomysial autoantibodies in a cohort of patients with primary antiphospholipid syndrome (PAPS).All study participants met the 1997 revised Sapporo criteria for the diagnosis of APS. 2 This research is characterized as a descriptive crosssectional study that was conducted in the
