Anti‐osteoporosis effects of mammalian lignans and their precursors from flaxseed and safflower seed using zebrafish model

Xin‐Yue Yang,
Dan‐Dan Wu,
Cong‐Cong Zhuang
et al.

Abstract: Secoisolariciresinol diglucoside (SDG) and tracheloside (TCL) are the main lignan components of flaxseed cake and safflower seed cake, which are by‐products of oil extraction. Both SDG and TCL are metabolized into mammalian lignan enterolactone (EL) with the involvement of intestinal bacteria. In this research, we evaluated the anti‐osteoporosis effects of SDG and the in vivo metabolites EL and enterodiol (ED) prepared in our previous work, as well as the newly isolated chemical constituents from safflower see… Show more

“…Anti-osteoporosis effects were assessed on AB wild-type zebrafish in December, in Hohhot, China, using reported method (Wang et al, 2020;Yang et al, 2023). Zebrafish larvae at 5 dpf were put at 18 fish per well in 12 well plates.…”

“…The pyrimidine metabolic pathway comprises a series of enzyme-catalyzed reactions responsible for the synthesis and degradation of pyrimidine nucleotides, fundamental components of RNA and DNA. OP, characterized by reduced bone mass, deterioration of bone microarchitecture, increased skeletal fragility, and heightened risk of fractures, appears to be unrelated to pyrimidine metabolism at first glance [ 37 ]. However, recent research has illuminated the crucial role of pyrimidine metabolism in bone metabolism, particularly in the processes of bone formation and resorption.…”
