“…The chemical control of R. solanacearum is currently ineffective because of the far‐ranging host origin and long lifespan of this pathogen in soil and water. Although losses caused by this pathogen can be decreased through cultivation methods such as grafting (Rivard, O'Connell, Peet, Welker, & Louws, ) and crop rotation (Lemaga, Kanzikwera, Kakuhenzire, Hakiza, & Manzi, ) as well as through the use of biocontrol agents (Li, Shi, Gao, Yang, & Xue, ), the most appropriate control strategy thus far has been the breeding of varieties resistant to this pathogen.
