Antibacterial Activity and Synergistic Effect of Biosynthesized AgNPs with Antibiotics Against Multidrug-Resistant Biofilm-Forming Coagulase-Negative Staphylococci Isolated from Clinical Samples

Abstract: Silver nanoparticles form promising template for designing antimicrobial agents against drug resistant pathogenic microorganisms. Thus, the development of a reliable green approach for the synthesis of nanoparticles is an important aspect of current nanotechnology research. In the present investigation, silver nanoparticles synthesized by a soil Bacillus sp. were characterized using UV-vis spectroscopy, FTIR, SEM, and EDS. The antibacterial potential of biosynthesized silver nanoparticles, standard antibiotics… Show more

“…The efficacy of the formulated nano-imipenem on microbial adhesion and biofilm formation was evaluated using microtitre plate method [26]. Growth medium containing 1/4 MICs of IMP, IMP/PCL and IMP/PLGA were prepared and 100 μl of each preparation was distributed into wells in triplicates.…”

“…Thus in the current study, PCL was selected as the candidate polymer for the development of electrospun membrane with persistent antimicrobial delivering effect of incorporated silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) against pathogens, which cause wound-related and device-centered infection. During last few years of our study, we have already reported the excellent effect of biosynthesized AgNPs on coagulase-negative staphylococci (CoNS) isolated from clinical samples [14]. To bring this to an application level, the current work was designed by imparting antimicrobial effect of AgNPs into electrospun PCL nanocomposite.…”
