“…The sample was air dried at room temperature for two weeks (water content approached 75% of plant fresh weight). It was pulverized and hydro‐distilled in a Clevenger's apparatus for 3 hr according to the method described by Shahbazi et al (, ). Then, the ZEO was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and kept in a sealed vial at refrigerated temperature before further use.…”

“…Ziziphora clinopodioides, a native plant of Iran, is highly valued for its medicinal benefits especially appetitive, carminative, antiseptic, sedative and antiseptic effects (Shahbazi & Shavisi, 2016). Recently, it has been shown that the essential oil (EO) of the Z. clinopodioides leaves contain high levels of oxygenated monoterpenes (e.g., carvacrol and thymol) and possess antibacterial activity in food models (Kakaei & Shahbazi, 2016;Mohebi & Shahbazi, 2017;Shahbazi, Shavisi, & Mohebi, 2016a2016b. Moreover, Ficus carica (known as common fig) has a number of biological effects including antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, antihelminthic, anticarcinogenic, and antioxidant, in good correlation with the high contents of monoterpenes and sesquiterpenoids (Barolo, Mostacero, & L opez, 2014).…”

“…Therefore, the aim of the present study was to evaluate the application of MSO to extend shelf life and control survival of L. monocytogenes in fresh minced camel meat preserved at refrigerated condition. was cleaned with distilled water to remove impurities, dried in shadow at room temperature for 10 days, crushed, and used for the EO extraction using a Clevenger-type apparatus according to the method described by Shahbazi et al (2016b). The oily layer was collected on top of the aqueous distillate, dried by adding anhydrous sodium sulfate, preserved in a sealed airtight glass vial at refrigerated temperature until its chemical analysis or its use in camel meat.…”

“…Whereas several studies found that the major compounds of ZEO obtained from Iran and Turkey were pulegone, 1,8‐cineole, and limonene (Behravan et al, ; Ozturk & Ercisli, ; Sonboli, Atri, & Shafiei, ). In general, the chemical compositions of the EOs from plants and spices may different depend on geographical and climate conditions, the method used for drying and isolation of the EO and also the plant growth phase (Shahbazi, Shavisi, & Mohebi, ).…”
