Aim: Report a clinical case of endodontic retreatment using a hybrid instrumentation technique, L&C paste associated with glycerin as intracanal medication and bioceramic cement. Methods: A 42-year-old male, melanoderma patient, attended the Nilton Lins University Dentistry clinic complaining of tooth fracture and sensitivity in the upper frontal region and pain on chewing. The image exams, showed a bone radiolucense on the root tip, suggestive of a periapical lesion. Clinicaly, pain on vertical percussion was observed. The findings indicated an unsatisfactory primary endodontic treatment. Given the characteristics presented, endodontic reintervention in two sessions was chosen. Results: After the endodontic obturation, the patient was followed through a year. During the months of follow-up, it was observed decrease of the radiolucense on the root tip, as well as the appearance of radiopaque areas, suggestive of bone formation, indicating the effectiveness of the proposed treatment. Conclusion: Therefore, the endodontic reintervention using hybrid instrumentation technique, L&C paste associated with glycerin as intracanal medication and bioceramic cement, showed a satisfactory result in the controlling of the infection. After 1 year, signs of bone remodeling can be seen, meeting the heal expectations predicted in the case planning, leaving the tooth suitable for prosthetic rehabilitation and return to its function.

The study on filling pastes in deciduous teeth generates a great dilemma for the pediatric dentist, as it strongly interferes with the dentition that will come. Thus, it is worth noting that, in endodontic therapy of deciduous teeth, adequate instrumentation, cleaning of the canals and an effective choice must be made associated with filling materials and their correct filling of the dental element. the most used pastes in endodontic treatment are: zinc oxide eugenol (OZE) paste, iodoformed pastes, calcium hydroxidebased paste, iodoformed pastes with calcium hydroxide and CTZ paste. The choice of material to be used must be based on the properties of each substance that it composes and the scientific evidence that supports the use of these materials. Therefore, this work aims to review the literature on filling pastes with indication for pulp treatment of deciduous teeth. This is a literature review through scientific articles and periodicals, in the "PubMed" and "Scielo" databases, published between January 2017 and December 2021. The filling pastes play an essential role in the repair of the dental element, maintaining the objective that it develops with normal biological patterns. The choice of this material is extremely important when we talk about physiological root resorption, as the paste needs to have criteria that do not interfere with the natural process. In view of the above, the success of endodontic treatment does not depend only on the material used, but it is a compilation of a detailed anamnesis, precise clinical and radiographic exams, a correct diagnosis, as well as, cautious performance of the operative technique and follow-up of the patient, keeping that deciduous tooth in the mouth until its physiological exfoliation.

Surgical tooth extraction can result in a number of complications. Alveolitis is an infectious and inflammatory process in the walls of a tooth socket that may occur after tooth extraction during at the oral surgery outpatient appointment. This condition is characterized by a partial or complete absence of a blood clot, called as "dry socket", and pain syndrome. There are various factors, which can contribute to the development of this process, but the most common are traumatic and infectious ones. For the local treatment of alveolitis, a number of drugs are used to eliminate inflammatory manifestations and pain syndrome. During an outpatient appointment for the treatment of alveolitis, antiseptic drugs as iodoform and chlorhexidine are most often used. Iodoform is an antiseptic widely used locally in oral surgery and in endodontics. Chlorhexidine is also widely used in dentistry as an antiseptic. The aim of this in vitro study is to investigate the antimicrobial properties of iodoform and chlorhexidine using museum strains of microorganisms. Materials and methods. Museum strains of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, Staphylococcus epidermidis ATCC 14990, Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212, Esherichia coli ATCC 25922, Candida albicans ATCC 10231 were used the studied cultures of microorganisms. The antimicrobial effect of iodoform and chlorhexidine was determined by a quantitative method of serial dilutions in broth and agar. For this purpose, we used iodoform suspension, which corresponded to 200.0 mg / ml of the working concentration of the agent. A 0.05% solution of chlorhexidine bigluconate was used that corresponded to 500 μg / ml of the working concentration of the agent. Results and discussion. Iodoform as powder in the studied concentrations caused an insignificant static effect on museum strains of E. faecalis, E. coli, but did not exhibit a bactericidal effect against them. In relation to the C. albicans strain, iodoform demonstrated fungiostatic properties. The S. epidermidis and S. aureus strains were resistant to iodoform. Chlorhexidine caused both inhibitory and microbicidal action on all studied strains of microorganisms.
