Antibiotic‐resistant bacteria and blaNDM‐1 genes in the drinking tap water of a megacity

Abstract: Antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in drinking water are a major issue for the world.blaNDM-1 confers resistance to carbapenem antibiotics, which is one of the cures for fatal bacterial infections. The study aimed to identify coliform and other bacteria with sul-1, sul-2 and blaNDM-1 ARGs in drinking water. Members of the genera Klebsiella, Serratia, Citrobacter, Pseudomonas, Aeromonas, Acinetobacter and Delftia were identified with Chromocult Coliform Agar, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and gene sequencing.… Show more
