Abstract: lnstitutet at Sodersjukhuset. S-100 64 Stockholm, Sweden Bygdeman, S. Antibiotic susceptibility of Neisseria gonorrhoeae in relation to serogroups. Acta path. microbiol. sand. Sect. B, 89: 227-237, 1981.Susceptibility testings, by means of the agar-dilution method, were performed on nine antibiotics of I38 non-PPNG @-lactamase-producing = PPNG) strains, I7 of which originated from Thailand, and 88 PPNG isolates. The gonococcal strains were sero-grouped by the co-agglutination method and classified among the se… Show more

“…In serogroup W I no difference was noted concerning importation in relation to sex and sexual preference, while isolates in sero group W II/llI most frequently were imported by men. This influx of W II/III strains could be a source of future changes of the serovar pattern in Sweden and is a matter of great concern since W II/III strains are less susceptible to antibiotics than W I strains (14). On the other hand beterosexual men who had acquired their infection abroad were older than those, who had got their infection in Sweden.…”
