“…Lincomycin has been previously described as effective in vitro against M. hyorhinis [12,28]. Conversely, our data suggest the presence of resistant strains of M. hyorhinis against this antimicrobial in the population studied, in agreement with the data published by Bekö et al [20] in Hungarian isolates of this pathogen. M. hyorhinis is a common commensal of the upper respiratory tract of pigs, acting as an opportunist pathogen of immunocompromised animal in a variety of clinical presentation [10].…”

“…Freely accessible tylvalosin MIC values for mycoplasmas are limited up to date to M. hyopneumoniae , M. hyorhinis , M. synoviae , Mycoplasma sp. 1220 and M. gallisepticum [ 17 20 ]. However, the MIC values observed in our work for this antimicrobial against M. hyorhinis and M. hyosynoviae , and the in vitro [ 17 ] and in vivo efficacy [ 21 ] demonstrated for the treatment of M. hyopneumoniae infections, gives prominence to tylvalosin as one of the most effective macrolides against porcine mycoplasmosis, together with tulathromycin, a 15-membered macrolide.…”

“…Even though tiamulin is not licensed for cattle in Italy, it was included in this study to investigate its efficacy against M. dispar as a potential targeted treatment. Noteworthy, most of the isolates had low MIC values for tiamulin between 0.25 and 2 µg/mL, arranged unimodally, but overall had slightly higher values than those in previous studies [20,37] as well as for the pig pathogens M. hyorhinis [38] and M. hyopneumoniae [39] for which the antibiotic is licensed. These low values for M. dispar and, incidentally, M. bovis [33] may reflect the absence of exposure of these mycoplasmas to tiamulin which is not used for treating cattle.…”

“…At present, Mhr infection detection mainly depends on pathogen isolation and culture and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) methods, and there is no commercially available kit for serological detection [6]. Although Mhr is easily isolated from porcine alveolar lavage fluid and nasal swabs, the process of isolation and identification of Mhr is often time consuming [7]. Mhr has been suspected to be associated with several types of cancer, and previous studies have confirmed that Mhr reduces the sensitivity of human lung carcinoma cells to Nutlin-3 and promotes their malignant phenotype.…”
