Antidiabetes Activities Extract Hexane From the Peels of Artocarpus Camansi Blanco Fruit

Abstract: Objective: The purpose of this research is to know the chemical compound from the n-hexane extract of Kulu (Artocarpus camansi Blanco) fruit peels and to know its antidiabetes activity against male Swiss Webster mice. Methods: Samples were macerated with n-hexane solvent, then the extracts were obtained, was characterization with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), and then the extract separated by column chromatography. The results obtained were tested by antidiabetes action with glucose tolerance me… Show more

“…Based on the results of the analysis with SPSS and Tukey's test, it can be seen that the blood sugar-lowering activity of the n-hexane extract was significantly different from that of glibenclamide at 30 (p < 0.05), 60 (p < 0.1), 90 (p < 0.05), and 120 min (p < 0.05). The ethanol extract was significantly different from glibenclamide at The strength of reducing blood sugar levels of nhexane extract, ethanol extract, subfraction A, and subfraction B in mice, is a comparison of the activity of reducing blood sugar levels of each sample with the activity of reducing blood sugar levels of mice given glibenclamide multiplied by 100% [22]. The result of lowering power mice blood sugar compared to glibenclamide can be seen in Table 5.…”

“…This has resulted in the exploration of natural ingredients to treat diabetes mellitus, including AC. The use of AC as anti-diabetic mellitus has been reported by Marianne et al [12], Nasution [10], Nasution et al [11], Eryuda and Soleha [13], Nasution et al [24], Permata & Asben [23] and Warin -wind [22].…”

“…The bioactivity of AC as anti-diabetes mellitus is related to its secondary metabolites. The fraction of AC bark hexane extract had -sitosterol lower blood sugar levels in mice [11] and better than glibenclamide (a commercial drug) [24], but its activity was lower than pure -sitosterol [10]. The leaves of AC contain flavonoids which are thought to play a role in regenerating damaged pancreatic cells so that insulin deficiency can be overcome [13].…”

“…The obtained extract was used to investigate the antidiabetic activity of the extract using male Swiss webster mice as animal model. Following the glucose-tolerance test, the crude n-Hexane extract showed an activity of 65.59% compared to glibenclamide as positive control [48]. The effects of A. camansi macerated dried fruit extract were also investigated using sucrose-induced diabetes mellitus in Drosophilia melanogaster.…”
