Antimicrobial activity of Bark Extracts of Elaeodendron paniculatum Wight and Arn.

Abstract:The in vitro bioassay of the stem bark extract of Elaeodendron paniculatum was done against five bacterial s trains -Bac illus subtilis , Esc heric hia c oli, M ic roc oc cus flav us , Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus and one fungal strain i.e., Aspergillus niger. Acetone and ethanol extract showed good activity against Staphylococcus aureus. The present work is an attempt to justify that the method of extraction influences the efficacy of the plant extracts.
