Antimicrobial activity of natural products against MDR bacteria: A scientometric visualization analysis

Abstract: Objective: A growing number of studies have demonstrated the antimicrobial activity of natural products against multidrug-resistant bacteria. This study aimed to apply scientometric method to explore the current status and future trends in this field. Methods: All relevant original articles and reviews for the period 1997–2021 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection database. VOSviewer, a scientometric software, and an online bibliometric analysis platform were used to conduct visualization study… Show more

“…Thus, the need for alternative therapeutic approaches for treating breast inflammation is indicated. Herbs from traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), both in formulations and as a single active ingredient, have shown low resistance to the dual regulation of a bacterium and a host by altering the permeability of biological membranes and ion channels and inhibiting bacterial enzyme activities [ [20] , [21] , [22] ]. For a more effective and early prevention and treatment of LM and to reduce its incidence and the progression of breast abscesses, the use of herbal medicines from TCM can be a potential treatment approach [ 23 , 24 ].…”

“…Recently, the expansion of drug-resistant pathogens has created demand for novel antimicrobials and stimulated the search for natural plant-based compounds as alternatives to synthetics [1][2][3]. Plants are a promising source of antimicrobial compounds: tannins, flavonoids, phenolic acids, essential oils, saponins, alkaloids, etc.…”
