Antimicrobial, antioxidant and anticancer activities of gold nanoparticles green synthesized using Mangifera indica seed aqueous extract

Abstract: In this study, gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were synthesised using seed extract of mango (Mangifera indica) which is considered as waste and generally thrown away into the environment. The bioactive molecules in the seed act as reducing agent to synthesise AuNPs without using any external agent. The characterisation of green synthesised AuNPs was done using various spectroscopic techniques. Visual colour change from colourless to ruby red colour confirmed the formation of AuNPs which was further confirmed by max… Show more

“…The zeta potential of AgNPs was 0.67 mV indicating moderate stability. Zeta potential of AgNPs synthesised using Lantana camara leaves was found to be À15.2 mV [25] while AuNPs synthesised from M. indica seed was found to be À1.98 mV [17].…”

“…The peak at 3432 cm À1 and 2926 cm À1 was assigned to O-H stretching of polyphenolic compounds or flavonoids and C-H stretching of proteins respectively [29,30]. M. indica seed powder showed the presence of phenols, flavonoids, tannins and coumarins while its polar solvent methanol extract and aqueous extract revealed the presence of phenols, flavonoids, tannins, cardiac glycosides, coumarins and anthocyanins [17]. The presence of these important secondary metabolites may play a significant role in the formation, reduction, capping and stabilisation of AgNPs.…”

“…Rajasekharreddy et al [14] In the present study, the Au NPs were prepared by green synthesis, where the plant extracts of D. uncinatum and E. guineense were used as a reducing agent. Green synthesized Au NPs are reported for antibacterial [15,16], antioxidant [17], anticancer [18] etc. but to the best of our knowledge it is not used in Alzeimer disease.…”
