ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY OFINONOTUS OBLIQUUSGROWN ON GERMINATED BROWN RICE EXTRACTS

Abstract: The aim of this study was to determine the antioxidant activity of different extracts from Inonotus obliquus (IO) grown on germinated brown rice by employing several established methods. The total phenolic and flavonoid contents were performed by Folin–Ciocalteau and aluminum chloride colorimetric assay, respectively. All the extracts showed strong antioxidant activity. However, the ethanol‐based extract showed significantly highest antioxidant activity with the values of the half maximal inhibitory concentrat… Show more

“…Our findings show that the bio-activity of Inonotus obliquus was not reduced or changed when it was grown on germinated brown rice. The higher activity of IOGBR may be related to its higher phenolic and flavonoid contents [17]. Park et al [13] reported that Phellinus linteus grown on brown rice contains greater amounts of some constituents including ergosterol peroxide, γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA), and β-glucan compared to Phellinus linteus .…”

“…The SOD-like activities of samples were determined using the method described by [17]. Briefly, different samples (200 μL) were mixed with pyrogallol solution (200 μL, 7.2 mM in water) and 50 mM Tris-HCl buffer at pH 8.5 containing 10 mM EDTA (3 mL).…”

“…The phenolic acids found were gallic, protocatechuic and p-hydroxybenzoic acids, as also the related compound cinnamic acid ( Table 1) Regarding the antioxidant potential ( (Pereira et al, 2012). In previous study of antioxidant activity of mycelia of I. obliquus (Debnath et al, 2013), the scavenging activity of water, ethanol and methanol extracts on DPPH's were determined, and it was concentration dependent. The scavenging activities were ranged from 12.50-200 mg/mL, respectively.…”

“…This study was therefore conducted to evaluate the antioxidant and antiinflammatory activity of water extracts of P. sibiricum. Fresh P. sibiricum rhizome (300 g) was extracted with distilled water (DW) (100 g/700 mL) at 85 °C for 3 h [12] . The The stock solution was prepared by dissolving the extracted mass into DW for different assays.…”
