“…A high concentration of Cordia verbenacea extract combined with a pregelatinized starch film resulted in the desired flavonoid content, even though the thickness of the films was 0.060 mm. Similar changes were observed in the moisture present in the films [ 50 ]. Film thickness grew 24% higher and ranged from 0.164 to 0.212 mm compared with the control cassava starch film using different concentrations of two compounds (green tea extract and palm oil) [ 16 ].…”

“…Furthermore, CNE films showed stronger elongation at break than control films, increasing from 23 to 133% [ 45 ]. Pregelatinized starch films with higher concentration of cordial verbenacea extract showed lower TS and higher elongation [ 50 ].…”

“…[9][10][11][12] Recently some research applied extracts from fruits like pomegranate, 13 acerola, [14][15][16] camu-camu 17 and peanut skin 12 in ODFs for delivery of bioactive compounds. In the literature are also found works that use extracts such as Cordia verbenacea (erva baleeira) 18 and other medicinal plants, 19 as well as propolis [20][21][22] and vitamins (vitamin C 20 and D 23 ) for the development of ODFs for different nutraceutical purposes. In this segment, the jambolan (Syzygium cumini), a fruit that belongs to the Myrtaceae family, appears as a promising alternative for the development of the ODF.…”
