“…The results presented herein revealed that the addition of BAA generated better growth, immune response and disease resistance of Nile tilapia. The findings were compliant with earlier studies in red tilapia (Oreochromis sp) (Bañuelos-Vargas et al, 2021); Nile tilapia (O. niloticus) (Laice et al, 2021;Mohammadi et al, 2020Mohammadi et al, , 2021 and Pacific white shrimp (Penaeus vannamei) (de Andrade et al, 2021;Hussain et al, 2021).…”

“…In accordance with the results of the current study, Kord et al (2021) reported that the best results for CAT and SOD levels were recorded in Nile tilapia supplemented with Sanolife PRO-F. In a similar sense, supplementation of diet with probiotics in biofloc systems enhanced SOD and CAT in Nile tilapia (Mohammadi et al, 2021) and SOD in red tilapia (Bañuelos-Vargas et al, 2021). Additionally, the inclusion of Bacillus spp.…”

“…The positive impact of Bacillus-based probiotics in enhancing the haematological parameters of Nile tilapia has been elucidated extensively (Elsabagh et al, 2018;Hassaan et al, 2014;Telli et al, 2014). Similarly, Bañuelos-Vargas et al (2021) reported that the addition of commercial probiotic bacteria made up of Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus licheniformis can help maintain physiological homeostasis in juvenile red tilapia. Reda and Selim (2015) showed an elevation in haemoglobin and haematocrit values in Nile tilapia fed on Bacillus amyloliquefaciens.…”

“…The antioxidant enzymes (SOD, CAT and GPx) play important roles under these conditions and protect the cells against oxidative damage (Adineh et al, 2019, 2021). The elevated antioxidant enzymes and/or MDA levels at the high stocking density in the present study were in agreement to the previous studies on common carp (Adineh et al, 2019; Fazelan et al, 2020) and other species (Akdemir et al, 2017; Bañuelos‐Vargas et al, 2021). Such increases in antioxidant enzymes’ activity suggest activation of the antioxidant system in response to the stress caused by the stocking density elevation.…”
