Antioxidant, antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities of silver and gold nanoparticles synthesized using Plumbago zeylanica bark

Abstract: Utilization of bioresources for the synthesis of metal nanoparticles is the latest field in green chemistry. The present work reports the utilization of the aqueous bark extract of Plumbago zeylanica for the biosynthesis of Ag and Au NPs. The Ag and Au NPs thus obtained were characterized by UV-Vis, FT-IR, TEM, XRD, and EDAX analysis. The water-soluble components of the extract were responsible for the reduction of Ag ? and Au 3? ions. FT-IR spectra revealed that the -OH and [C=O groups present in the biomolec… Show more

“…The intensity of the SPR bands increased and shifted to wavelength (500 nm) when the concentration of the rhaminolipid increased from (4 to 6×10 -3 w/v), (Fig.8). This reduces in the intensity of the SPR band perhaps because of the aggregation of nanoparticles, which is in concurrence with previous study of Velammal et al (42). (Fig 9).…”

“…The result obtained after 4 days were calculated for every petri dishes by noticing change in color and increase in number of fronds. Statistical analysis was done by finding the value of FI50 (Velammal et al 2016). For % growth inhibition the following formula was used for calculations:…”

“…At the end of 1 hour, the reduction of the DPPH radical was determined by measuring the absorbance at 517 nm. The free Radical Scavenging Activity was calculated by using the following equation: % RSA = [(absorbance of control -absorbance of sample)/absorbance of control] ×100 [9] Were, absorbance of control was the DPPH solution and absorbance of sample was the absorbance of the solution when the ZnONPs is added with the DPPH.…”
