Antioxidant Potential of Herbal Preparations and Components from Galactites elegans (All.) Nyman ex Soldano

Abstract: Galactites is a genus of flowering plants belonging to Asteraceae family. This genus is mainly represented by the Galactites elegans (All.) Nyman ex Soldano, the milky thistle, a plant of Mediterranean origin. Galactites elegans is consumed as a monofloral boar thistle honey. Chromatography separation of CHCl3 and n-BuOH extracts of aerial parts of G. elegans led to isolation of 18 pure compounds. Their structures were elucidated by 1D-and 2D-NMR spectroscopy and confirmed by mass spectrometry analysis. Sinapi… Show more

“…Approximately 85% of jamu's ingredients are the extract of medicinal plants. Hence, a number of modern or synthetic medicines are made from the isolation of natural sources based on the traditional plant medicines [3]. One of the natural sources that has been used as a medicinal plant is Chromolaena odorata L.…”

“…e sample was placed in an Erlenmayer flask with the corresponding amount of solvent and was treated with ultrasound at 25°C for a given duration (Table 1). MAE was performed using a multimodal household microwave oven Silvercrest SMW 700 A1 at 700 W and a 100 mL flask exposed to microwave irradiation (irradiation cycle: 10 s power on, followed by 10 s power off) for a given duration (Table 1) [13][14][15].…”
